The Hurdles Before Senator Alh Yakubu Oseni and Kogi Central | Barr. Emmanuel Shadrach

The hurdles before Sen. Alh. Yakubu Oseni and the generality of Kogi Central in this political dispensation are myriads and desperation to win at the Election Tribunal does not come close to the least of them. However, it must be stated unequivocally that Senator Oseni’s mandate remains unassailable, mark that. This is because the welfare of the people in the Central is beyond personal aggrandizement which is solely predicated on vaporous grandiose.

The Central and her people have received sequence of political discordant orchestrated by political minion and media snivelers. Thus, “political violence” and “societal malfeasance” become the unfortunate terms used to describe the loving and peaceful region. This is not the real story of the people who yarn and long for “little things” that would make life easy for them. Hence, the enhancement of these “little things” for the good people of Central becomes the “fundamental ethic” of Senator Oseni’s mandate.

The people of Central have since realized that you can only entertain them but you definitely can’t deceive them. This is the reason the people overwhelmingly bequeathed the Senatorial mandate on Senator Oseni and they are ready to protect the mandate from serpentine marauders and political pillagers.

Senator Oseni is a man who believes in the unity of the people with an unfeigned passion to lift as much people he can from suffering. To be honest, the people are not looking for a “messiah or a hero” but someone to render a helping hand and to lean on and no single person can provide this without the help of others.

One of the threatening fundamental hurdles that Senator Oseni set to overcome is the prevalence of disunity and lack of common vision. As important as “Ajaokuta steel” is in creating wealth for the people and the entire Nigeria, its “nonfunctioning” is not a hurdle in the affairs and destiny of the people of Central unlike lack of “generational unity and vision” which has become a dark spell that held the people bound in economic retrogression and destitution. For the record, Senator Oseni is bringing a new strategic approach to the issue of “Ajaokuta steel” than the fossil “aluta acerta” approach (a working article will be released for this in subsequent publication).

The people of Kogi Central need their unity to live as a progressive people and ready to birth a vision for their emancipation.

The age long injustice against the people of Central is one hurdle Senator Oseni is committed to set right. It is true that his predecessors stumbled on this injustice but they decided to look the other way and move on as if injustice is a life necessity. One of such injustices is the relegation of Kogi Central from sociopolitical and economic development. We must come to term that geographically, the region play a vital in the nation’s networking and connectivity, yet it is been treated like a political pariah and unworthy of development.
