The Special Adviser to the Governor of Kogi State on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Engr. Abubakar  Ohere has tasked Kogi Indigenous Students to be Proud Ambassadors of Confluence State.

Engr Ohere gave the charge in a goodwill message when he played host to Student Bodies from University of Abuja comprising of Delegations of Students Union Government (S.U.G); National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS); and National Association of Public Administration Students (NAPAS) who were on a courtesy visit to him, in his office at the State Capital, Lokoja earlier this week.
Engr. Ohere reminded them that Kogi citizens are known to be diligent, righteous and industrious people and as such, they must try to replicate same as representatives of the people within and without the Citadel of Learning.
He equally admonished them to entrench operation within the ambit of the law governing the institution.
Dr. Ohere vehemently beseeched them to eschew acts of examination malpractice; substance abuse; cultism; theft; violence; prostitution and other forms of social vices capable of giving the state a bad image.
Speaking on, he charged them to maintain high sense of synergy; love; and unity amongst all Kogi Indigenes via justice, equity and fair play in all their dealings, as being witnessed in the state under the detribalized Governor, Alh. Yahaya Bello who he described as a youth friendly and an exemplary Leader.
Adding his voice was the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Prince Matthew Kolawole who visited the Honorable Special Adviser at the time of the courtesy call.
Recalling his days as a union leader in higher institution, the Speaker urged the student leaders to always dialogue instead of warring when student affairs call for concern.
He also implored them to  shun cultism in the name of belonging to certain ungodly classes, and jettison the idea of “allowing the school to pass through them” as usually postulated by those that indulge, as that will only earn them rustication and bad repute.
Rt. Hon. Kolawole harped on the strong synergy between the legislative and executive arm of government in Kogi State owing to zero inter role conflict.
According to him, the frictionless coexistence of the two arms has brought about progressive implementation of policies and all round development under the leadership of *Governor Yahaya Bello* to the benefit of all citizens.
Earlier, the Vice President of the S.U.G, Comr. Faridat Suleiman  in a mission statement revealed that, their visitation is informed on *Dr. Ohere’s* philanthropic gesture particularly the scholarship scheme which many Kogites schooling in University of Abuja are beneficiaries of.
“Indeed, a golden fish has no hiding place in the ocean. You have become a household name among communities of Kogi Students across the nation owing to your investment in the education of the less privileged. On that note, we have come to commend and honor you”, she concluded.
The Representative of the President, NAKOSS Uni-Abuja Chapter, Comr. Abdullateef Edicha also commended the Special Adviser, describing him as the Father of Kogi Students. An opportunity he ceased to present the plight of the students.
Highlight of the courtesy call was the presentation of a recognition plaque to the host as the “UNIVERSITY OF ABUJA MAN OF THE YEAR”. An award Dr. Ohere dedicated to His Boss and Mentor, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alh. Yahaya Bello.
Dr. Ohere in his usual commitment to the plight of students, among other commitments pledged to secure a secretariat to be equipped as Business Centre for NAKOSS on Campus, to enhance smooth and effective operation of the Association.
