There were cheers and jubilation today in Kaba when a team of Ohere Educational Outreach arrived Korede community of Kabba/Bunu local government area to deliver materials to school children.
Pupils and teachers of St. Paul Primary school, Kabba cheered excitedly as the team arrived their school premises to deliver another round of Free Educational Support materials in the on-going education intervention program by the Ohere Educational Outreach across Kogi State.
Free sandals were distributed to about 100 pupils of LGEA Kajola Primary school and St. Paul Primary School 1 & 2, while over 70 students of UBE Junior school, Kabba and some of d pupils of kajola primary school who were clutching nylon bags as school bags received free school bags.
In her remark, the headmistress of LGEA Kajola primary school, Mrs. Adeleke Bolajoko thanked the team for considering the school worthy of benefiting from the intervention scheme.
She said that such largese coming from a non-indigene was rare and well appreciated.
Mrs. Bolajoko praised the initiator, Engr. Abubakar Ohere who is also the Special Adviser, Kogi State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for the unprecedented gesture which according to her, would go a long way to encourage improved school attendance among the pupils.
On her part, Mrs. Bello Agnes of St. Paul Primary School 2 said the unexpected kind gesture from the Ohere Educational Outreach was an assurance that public school teachers are recognised while it raised a hope of greater expectations from Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration to teachers in areas of prompt remuneration of entitlement and benefits.
Pupils and students from the benefited schools, most of who were met in bare feet could not hold their joy as they jumped about in joy and chorused “Thank You” to Engr. Abubakar Ohere for the unexpected gift.
It was a teary moment for some less privileged pupils who least expected that such gesture could grace their school.
It could be recalled that the outreach was in Kogi East last week in its first phase of Free Educational Support materials distribution to deserving public schools. The intervention is expected to hit Kogi Central in few days’ time.
