Gunmen yesterday abducted six passengers at Okene, Kogi State, while on their way from Abuja en route Onitsha.
Daily Trust learnt that the gunmen waylaid the passengers at Achoze village and took them to the bush.
A source said the driver of the vehicle fled as the kidnappers marched six of the passengers into the bush while some of them took the advantage of not being among those held to escape into the bush.
When contacted, the Kogi State Police Spokesman, Mr Williams Ayah confirmed the incident, saying officials had been drafted to the area to ensure the rescue of the abducted passengers.
Meanwhile, the Administrator of Okene local government area, Mallam Absurazaq Muhammad has announced a dusk to dawn curfew in the wake of security challenges in the area.
A statement issued by his media adviser, Abdulmumuni Abubakar, said there would be no movement for especially commercial motorcycles between 6pm and 6am daily.
